How to get more traffic to your website: Massive Amounts! (Part 6/6)

Get more traffic to your website slow. But massive amounts of it!

In part 5, I showed you exactly how to get traffic to your website fast! I hope I gave you a good idea of why long tail traffic is super targeted and how Market Samurai is the perfect tool to help.

I also mentioned my three golden rules on how to choose keywords. As a quick review:

  1. Pair keywords that are relevant.
  2. Target more than 1 keyword phrase – higher competition with lower.
  3. Write for people – not search engines.

If you understood part 5, then part 6 will be super easy to understand and be easy to put into action. If you’re like me and want to build businesses that are long lasting, then this video will be crucial in your long term SEO strategy.

I’m going to show you how to get more traffic to your website by going after competitive keyword phrases that are often one or two words. Please note that this is a fundamental basic and there is a lot of off-page link building that will be required to take your website to the top. It’s important that you choose the right keywords and integrate them accordingly in your content.

This is a short video and I hope that your newly attainted knowledge from parts 1-5 will help you understand this quickly.

A full transcript is available below the video as well.

  5. How you can start getting traffic to your website fast!

If you haven’t had a chance to watch these videos yet, I’d strongly recommend it so we can get on the same wavelength with this video. Especially part 5 since you will need that information to understand what I’m talking about here in part 6.

I’m all about creating a lasting profitable niche. No, you can’t control the cost per click values or how long a particular trend will be hot for, but building a website strategically is something you’re in full control of.

So today, we’re going to get into getting traffic slow – sometimes REALLY slow, but we’re talking about massive amounts of targeted traffic which can be the most profitable avenue for your business if you plan on going long term.

So if you’re ready, let’s dig deep into getting massive amounts of lasting and targeted traffic to your website!

Going After Giant Keyword Phrases with High SEO Competition

Okay, so in the last video, I showed you how to start getting traffic a lot faster. And that was by targeting long tail keyword phrases! If you remember from part 5, I set one of the keyword phrases from my list of long tail keyword phrases on my home page for my celebrity gossip niche.

Today, I’m going to show you how to hit those keyword phrases that have a higher SEO competition. I’m not going to lie to you and say that it’s easy to rank for these keyword phrases, but it’s worth targeting them to some degree if you want to build your site over the long term.

I’ll open up my Celebrity Gossip project in Market Samurai again.

Before, I set my SEO Traffic to have a minimum of 30 visitors/month and a maximum level of SEO Competition of 10,000 pages.

To find our higher traffic keyword phrases, all we need to do is to set the SEO Traffic to a higher number and remove the SEO competition to a null value.

Since my page is new, I’m going to filter the keywords to have a minimum traffic of 1000 expected visitors per month.

You can see that it narrows it down to 38 keyword phrases. If you look at the SEO Competition, you can see that there are over 27 million pages in Bing that have the exact keyword phrase “Celebrity News”. Although this may be one of those keyword phrases that you want to hit in the long term, it may not be the best to focus on for your home page. So what we’ll do is set the maximum SEO competition to 100,000. Remember, we’re trying to outrank 100,000 other pages with the exact keyword phrase so you need to get into the mindset of long term. So there aren’t really that many results with good traffic, so I’ll set it to 200,000 and see what happens.

Now we’re down to 13 active keyword phrases that meet our criteria. You can see that Market Samurai has generated 3 possible keyword phrases here that fit our criteria

  • leaked celebrity photos
  • nigerian celebrity news
  • celebrity gossip sites

As nice as it would be to rank for the terms “Celebrity Gossip” or “Celebrity News”, we can discuss that later on once we start getting some natural back links and have an awesome audience following this fake little site we’re strategizing.

Something more realistic would be to go for something like “celebrity gossip sites” which has about 4400 exact keyword searches in the month. You can always check that Market Samurai picked up accurate results with the Bing SEO Competition by clicking on this arrow. And you can see that they match up nicely so our data is correct.

Using Competitive Keyword Phrases as a Primary Keyword

This might be your primary keyword phrase that you’re going for over the long term of your business. You would probably want to include this in your Title tag for the page that you’re targeting as well as having a heading tag with that keyword phrase in there. Your supporting content should have something like “The top among all Celebrity Gossip Sites!” or something along the lines of that. Rather than focusing all of our attention on that keyword phrase, we also want to hit long tail keyword phrases in there as well like we did in the example from Part 5.

The other option here is to try to hit 2 competitive keyword phrases like “Celebrity Gossip” and “Celebrity Gossip Sites”. You can see that Celebrity Gossip is the first two words of Celebrity Gossip Sites, so by including the keyword term Celebrity Gossip Sites, you are already integrating the other main keyword phrase with it.

If you remember my 3 golden rules from part 5, then you should remember that you are writing for people and not search engines. If the keyword phrase makes absolutely no sense and is not contextual, then maybe you should let it go.

If you understood part 5, then this should make sense to you too! I’m not going to tell you that by integrating great keyword phrases, you’re going to get amazing results and rank for these. The truth is that there is a lot of hard work that goes behind this like finding other sites in a similar industry and getting back links from them.

Since this part is a Market Samurai tutorials series, I’m not going to go in depth into backlinking, but it’s something that I plan on creating videos for too. I’ll be sure to add some articles on how to build quality links to your site and to really start targeting these more competitive keyword phrases.

I want to thank you so much for joining me through this series. If you’ve completed this series and you’re already putting these techniques into action – all the power to you!
